Creating lasting change

- Okay, start again. Ooh, okay. Is it your fault you have privilege? Absolutely not. Is it your responsibility to widen the table for those who don't have your privileges? Absolutely yes. (soft piano music) So I was raised in Singapore where there was a very strict and specific concept of gender. So those were the norms that I grew up with. My worldview and what I was exposed to greatly expanded, but I still trip up and make mistakes. So sometime during middle school, I started telling people my name was Chika. I think a teacher basically said, "Oh, your name is weird and hard to pronounce. So can I just call you Chika?" And it just stuck. And when I said, "Oh yeah, just call me Chika," there was that sense of relief and I just desperately wanted to fit in. (soft piano music) My name is Ruchika Tulshyan. And if there's one thing I wish everyone who took this course, read my book, and in general, knew about inclusion in the workplace, it's that we all have the power to make change. (soft piano music)
